Lending a Helping Hand
Our family’s commitment to the D. P. Yadav Foundation’s mission has allowed our work into agricultural and other local development programs, as well as continue programs to improve health and education. This year commemorates the five-year completion of the establishment of the Foundation and we remain focused on the mission’s progress and are inspired by the continued challenges in our work trying to enhance the lives of needed.
About Shri. Devendra Prasad Yadav
Born on 12 January 1937 at Mungher Dist, Bihar INDIA, passed the matriculation exam from Patna University, graduated in Science from Calcutta University and Post Graduated from Bihar Univ (Ranchi) in the year 1959 (MSc Botany), after a brief spell of college teaching and assignment as a junior scientist in CSIR, joined politics and was elected as Member of Indian Parliament of Fifth, Seventh and Eighth Lok Sabha, also serving in Ex. Prime Minister of India Ms. Indira Gandhi followed by Ex. Prime Minister Mr. Rajiv Gandhi as Union Dy. Minister of Education. Had been the Chairman of Central School Organization, Govt of India (1971-1977).
He has been closely associated with academic institutions like NCERT, IIT, CSIR, ICAR, and several other institutions of national importance while closely interacting with top scientists, administrators, and planners of the country.
Devoted extensively to the cause of underprivileged. A strong believer of social justice for the downtrodden, unequal and voiceless. Proposed and implemented several reforms for the betterment or critical masses during his tenure as a minister with Congress.
He has been a member of the Press Council of India, Congress Working Committee, and represented India in several national-level delegations abroad. He has also been in Congress Working Cabinet and represented India in several international delegations is US, Europe, and Asia.
Shri. Yadav was Chairman of IFFCO, of the committee of transfer of Technology for Agricultural Development for the Eastern States under the Central Ministry of Agriculture.
Trustee of Rajendra Bhawan (Delhi), Rajendra Chhatravas (Kolkata), IFFCO Foundation (New Delhi).
Spear Headed Several large scale Exhibitions for Science and Technology to Rural Sector at Mungher (1988), Amethi (1989), Ottapalam (1989) and Patna (1996).
Author of Several Books on Rural Development, Science & Technology, Social Development.
Member of the high-level committee of All India Congress Committee on Economic Policy while serving the congress at several different levels.
A big advocate of environmental protection, biodegradation, and eco-balance system. Free, frank, and fearless speaker. A strong believer in Gandhian Philosophy and Sw. Satyanand's theory of a yogic lifestyle. A strong believer in ethics in politics.
